Unanswered: Remote MySQL login for sync

    All,

Have not been here in years, but new feature in phpMyAdmin to sync DBs, has me trying something that is kicking my butt.

99.9% of the time, just fine with PHP code using localhost on supported host.

This sync feature however forces be to define non-localhost sessions and instead need the IP. This however is problematic as:

    Ex:
    Host: 192.168.1.2:3306
    UID: myuser
    PWD: mypass

Always says access denied for user myuser@192.16.1.2 with password=YES

I looked for HOWTOs and one says define a new user in the remote DB of myuser with host 192.168.1.2, but this does not work.

Been testing both with phpMyAdmin and with MySQL Administrator, but no luck on either.

Will appreciate all help on this!

    Thanks!

    My Config

    All,

Oh hey my config is 2 Ubuntu linux boxes and 1 WinXP laptop and trying to sync all 3.

Starting with U-Box to U-Box as that should be the easiest.

    Thanks!

Have you tried 127.0.0.1 which is localhost?

from that error message it sounds more likely that there is a permissions issue
I'd rather be riding on the Tiger 800 or the Norton
