    Unanswered: Sybase DB Slow performance

    Hello All;

I am working on sybase ASE 12.5 on a RHEL4 Hp proliant machine with 16 cores and 8 gigs of memory.

Of recent, I have noticed a slow response time in the database and I need some help in getting to the bottom of the problem.

I ran sp_sysmon for a period of 3mins on the system and the output is quite much for me to decipher given the short time.

Is there anything there that can pinpoint the problem.

I appreciate the help and Thanks.

    Hi,

Install Monitoring table run statement down to identify actives sessions, after run sp_showplan to show execution plan. You will can to identify problems in queries.

    select sp.ipaddr,
    s.SPID,
    s.CpuTim
    e,
    s.PhysicalReads,
    s.PacketsSent,
    s.PacketsReceived,
    t.LineNumber,
    t.SQLText
    from master..monProcessStatement s,
    master..monProcessSQLText t,
    master..sysprocesse
    s sp
    where s.SPID=t.SPID
    and sp.spid=s.SPID
    order by s.CpuTime desc
