    Always post your DB2-server version+fixpack and operating-system.

    Hello,

Thanks a lot for providing prompt reply.
Actually, I was trying this procedure on v9.5 FP8.
After following the procedure on the above given technote, db2 connect to <dbname> hangs.
Even db2 get dbm cfg or db cfg also hangs.
Please help to resolve this issue.

    Thanks,

You did not state the operating-sytem that runs your DB2 server.
You are doing this on a test-environment right?

You must Perform some problem determination.
Examine both the db2diag.log contents and the operating-system error log contents when starting the instance, and when attempting to connect.
Resolve any critical or error conditions by looking them up in the infocenter and on-line.

    I'm running this on AIX.
db2diag.log shows the following error :
The number of background tasks has reached the limit of 0, will try again later.

I have tried following the below technote, but didnt help:

Check how the database got cataloged. Also, try stopping the instance and cleanup any leftover processes/IPC resources owned by the instance owner.
