    Hi all

I am using Oracle 11g r2 in AIX environment. Oracle Enterprise manager indicates that memory utilization is exceeds the critical limit. But database is working with out any issue. Anyway can you guys let me know some tips to solve this issue.

    Memory parameters are

    sga_max_size big integer 14G
    sga_target big integer 12G
    pga_aggregate_target big integer 0

    thanks.

    1. How much RAM does your server have
    2. If Pga aggregate target isnt set have configured your PGA manually and if so how much RAM is it using up
    3. What about MEMORY_MAX_TARGET and MEMORY_TARGET params?
    4. Check from the OS how much RAM you oracle process is using.

The basic rule is you should try and avoid using the swap file (i.e. your memory usage exceeding your RAM) as this can reduce performance considerably. So make sure your Oracle process + the OS and any other apps (assuming they are used reasonably often) dont exceed 15G.

To judge how much PGA you are using query v$pgastat.
