    Unanswered: Write Conflict Error/slow response

I have created a shared db. The backend is on a network drive and and end users have the rest of the files on their desktops. There are 2 issues.
    1. When more than 1 user opens the file the menu comes up right away but when they choose any menu option it takes a long time to open the form.
    2. The users get write conflict errors when adding new records to the db.
Does anyone know any solutions to these issues?
    Thank you

What version of Access and what OS do the users have?

Re the write conflict - can you give a bit more info i.e. what the user is trying to do and what the write conflict is about. It could be that you need an autonumber on the table you are saving to or it's not indexed properly.

2010 Access and the users are keying in new data to a table that does have autonumbers. The messages asks them if the want to save the changes they say yes and move on to the next record. Could it be possible that they are both creating a new record at the exact same time?

Can you post the exact error message regarding the write conflict?

RE speed issue - There could be a number of issues causing the slowdown but the network is normally to blame. Try a google search for "Access 2010 slow over network" or something similar.
Are you compacting the back file regularly?
