    Unanswered: invalid userid/password

    Greetings,
    I am having an issue logging in that I can't seem to figure out. I have 3 environments DEV, TEST and PROD all are identical. We even sync up TEST and DEV occasionally by rebuilding from PROD exports, so I know my account is identical on all 3. I use Quest's Toad software for work primarily. Now I can log in to TEST and PROD just fine but I am getting an invalid userid/password when attempting to log into DEV. When using SQLPlus I can log into DEV with the same id and password. So I went back to Toad and attempted to log in to DEV with a group account and I could log in fine. But when trying my personal account I again got invalid userid/password. Recap, I can log into DEV using SQLPlus but not Toad with the exact same credentials, and I can log in to DEV through Toad with different credentials. What am I missing here? Thanks for any help you can provide.

    you missed providing from SQL below for all three DBs.

    SELECT * FROM V$VERSION;

    V$version

    DEV
    SQL> select * from V$VERSION;

    BANNER
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.3.0 - 64bit Production
    PL/SQL Release 11.2.0.3.0 - Production
    CORE 11.2.0.3.0 Production
    TNS for IBM/AIX RISC System/6000: Version 11.2.0.3.0 - Production
    NLSRTL Version 11.2.0.3.0 - Production

    TEST
    SQL> select * from V$VERSION;

    BANNER
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.3.0 - 64bit Production
    PL/SQL Release 11.2.0.3.0 - Production

    TNS for IBM/AIX RISC System/6000: Version 11.2.0.3.0 - Production
    NLSRTL Version 11.2.0.3.0 - Production

    PROD
    SQL> select * from V$VERSION;

    BANNER
    ----------------------------------------------------------------
    Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.4.0 - 64bi
    PL/SQL Release 10.2.0.4.0 - Production
    CORE 10.2.0.4.0 Production
    TNS for IBM/AIX RISC System/6000: Version 10.2.0.4.0 - Productio
    NLSRTL Version 10.2.0.4.0 - Production

    We are about to upgrade prod next weekend. Also, other users can log in fine from their workstations but not from mine and I can log in from their workstations. So this I believe really is more of a Toad issue but wanted to know if anyone else experienced this.

    Since Oracle 11 passwords are case-sensitive.

    With V11 Oracle passwords default to be CaseSensitive.
    Older versions of TOAD are known to force passwords to be UPPERCASE.
    I would expect a password that contained only UPPERCASE letters will work with Toad.

    Case sensitivity

    I can log into PROD and TEST from the same machine with the same Toad installation however not DEV so I would have assumed then I would encounter the same error for all 3 environments.
