Unanswered: Flash Cache on OEL 6

We are using the Oracle Database Smart Flash Cache on OEL 5.8 and we love it. But when we try to implement it on OEL 6.2 it says "feature not enabled". The same error occurs whether we use ASM or file systems.

We understand Oracle checks the platform and disables Flash Cache on unsupported platforms like RHEL and CentOS. OEL 6 is certified and supported. We are using 64-bit 11.2.0.3.2 on 64-bit OEL 6.2 on AMD64/EM64T architecture. Flash Cache worked great on this same computer when it was running OEL 5.x. We reformatted the computer and installed OEL 6.x, and now things like Flash Cache cannot be used.

Thanks in advance for your insights.

It appears to be a bug.

If you have MOS, check out Patch ID 14539819. You will need to install this on top of 11.2.0.3

    Yes, that solved the problem.

I find it interesting this patch has not been advertised by Oracle. Even with a MOS account the bug description is hidden, and there is nothing in the patch readme to suggest what this patch really does. Nevertheless, it solved the problem and now Flash Cache works on OEL 6.2. Thanks!
