    Unanswered: Db2 alter dms tablespace

    Hi All,

    Im not able to alter tablespace-(DMS) in db2,We are using DB2 9.5 .I tried to extend and then tried to resize the tablespace. The commands executed sucessfully but the allocation did not change. I have plenty of space in the file system . Can Any one help me to sort out it?

    Please provide the exact ALTER command you used / command output and "db2pd -d <db name> -tab" collected before and after ALTER

    RESIZE(All)

    Its showing command executed successfully,but when i list the tablespace the pagesize is still showing 4K

    You cannot change the pagesize of an existing tablespace.

    Then what is the solution,My requirement is to add new column to an existing table,but there occurs ths space pbm..Any thoughts?

    Create a new tablespace with the require page size, then move the table.

    Are all of the current page sizes 4k?

    If this is to be the first "expanded" page size, suggest you do not just "do it". Check with the dba(s) to make sure this will be acceptable.

    Good point. For this very reason only the DBA should have the privilege to use alter tablespace. Seems like a very insecure db2 installation

    yes the pagesize is 4K,So creating a new tablespace is the only solution.We cannot do any ALter?

    You cannot alter the pagesize of an existing tablespace. . .
