Unanswered: Local DB alias catalog problem

    9.7 FP4 on Linux

Hey all... I'm a bit stumped and sure I'm doing something stupid as I've not been sleeping too good ... can anyone see why this would be happening:

    Database 25 entry:

    Database alias = COMM
    Database name = WPDB
    Local database directory = /db2home/db2insut/wpdb
    Database release level = d.00
    Comment =
    Directory entry type = Indirect
Catalog database partition number = 0
    Alternate server hostname =
    Alternate server port number =

    Database 26 entry:

    Database alias = WPDB
    Database name = WPDB
    Local database directory = /db2home/db2insut/wpdb
    Database release level = d.00
    Comment =
    Directory entry type = Indirect
Catalog database partition number = 0
    Alternate server hostname =
    Alternate server port number =

    db2 connect to comm
SQL30061N The database alias or database name "COMM " was not
found at the remote node. SQLSTATE=08004

I tested the alias yesterday and it connected fine...

    Command used:
db2 catalog database WPDB as CUSTOM on /db2home/db2insut/wpdb/

I've tried uncataloging and recataloging again.. no dice
Also tried doing it with the path /db2home/db2insut/ again no luck...

    Ideas?
EDIT: oh and I can connect to WPDB no problems

Even weirder if I catalog a new test alias it works fine... exact same command.

Sounds like the DB directory is caching some old info... db2 terminate isn't refreshing it so I'm gonna have to do an instance restart I think :/

Good DBAs are not formed in a week or a month. They are created little by little, day by day. Protracted and patient effort is needed to develop good DBAs.

    Yea I was terminating....
I've always found the catalog to be a bit flaky sometimes.

I uncatalogued and recatalogued them all and restarted the instance and it was fine...
