    Unanswered: db2 CLP = db2 Client?

    Hallo everyone,

The db2 command starts the command line processor (CLP). The CLP is used to execute database utilities, SQL statements and online help. Is CLP actually already a db2 client? Analog with SQL*Plus in Oracle?

As I look in the documentation regarding db2 client, there is not statement considering db2 CLP as db2 client. At the moment, I am working in a machine, where my db2 server is also installed. I am wondering, if I want to make a remote connection to my db2 server, would it be the minimum requirement just to "install" the db2 CLP?

    Thank you for your comments.

    Regards,
    Ratna

The CLP is an application , delivered with some DB2 client packages.
For SQL*Plus in Oracle, the DB2 equivalent is CLPPLUS.
But both are just client applications, as distinct from the client itself (drivers etc).

    thank you db2mor.

In fact, CLP alone can not be considered as db2 client, because it doesnt have TCP/IP elements to even connect to a server.
