Unanswered: MySQL - Backup and Recovery Point-in-Time - Replication

I have a Master-Slave setup and want to backup the database and should be able to recover to point-in-time.

We are planning to take backup using mysqldump on the slave after stopping the slave every night.

In case of both master & slave servers crashing, Can i use the backup taken on slave machine to rebuild the Master and apply binary logs to minimize the data loss?

What is the usual backup statergy for a production system for mysql with Master-Slave replication?

    Best Regards
