Unanswered: entering IP -addresses in pg_hba.conf file interactively

    Dear all,
Is there way that I can enter new IP address in pg_hba.conf files interactively (using psql, pg_config or something else?)
Is this possible without having root rights (on LINUX)?
How can you figure out where the file pg_hba.conf is placed if it is not on the default location?
    Thanks

    Code:
    select *
    from pg_settings
    where name = 'hba_file'
I will not read nor answer questions where the SQL code is messy and not formatted properly using [code] tags: http://www.dbforums.com/misc.php?do=bbcode#code
