    Unanswered: trackmod

    I'm on 9.7 FP2 and also a system on 9.5 FP1.

If I set trackmod to yes, can I still online backups?

SEcondly, I came across this url ALTER TABLESPACE

Specifically, "Do not specify TRACKMOD for a LOB table space. For a table space in a TEMP database, DB2 uses TRACKMOD NO regardless of the value specified."

So LOB data is not backupable via this method? How is lob backed up then?

Yes you can use Online backups when TRACKMOD is on (LUW).
You did not mention the operating system, but for LUW the trackmod is a database level configuration parameter (i.e. is not tablespace specific).
Besides, why would you quote a Micro Focus page instead of an IBM page ?

That URL is not for DB2. TRACKMOD is configured at the database level, not the tablespace level.

A possible reason that Micro Focus includes that information is that Micro Focus sells solutions for COBOL that often involve offloading from mainframe COBOL - and on DB2 for Z/OS the TRACKMOD is a tablespace specific property.

However, on Windows, Linux, and Unix the TRACKMOD is at the database level as previously stated.
