    Unanswered: RMAN restore archive log errors

    Hi.

    I'm getting the following errors when running an archive log restore command. I'm using the control file rather than the RMAN catalog. It's an 11.2.0.2 DB. Any ideas?

    Many thanks for any advice.

    RMAN> run {
    2> SET ARCHIVELOG DESTINATION TO '/arch01/TESTDB1/arch';
    3> RESTORE ARCHIVELOG ALL;
    4> }

    executing command: SET ARCHIVELOG DESTINATION
    using target database control file instead of recovery catalog

    Starting restore at 17-JUL-12
    allocated channel: ORA_DISK_1
    channel ORA_DISK_1: SID=5 device type=DISK

    Code:
    bcm@bcm-laptop:~$ oerr rman 6025
    6025, 1, "no backup of archived log for thread %d with sequence %d and starting SCN of %s found to restore"
    // *Cause: An archived log restore restore could not proceed because
    // no backup of the indicated archived log was found.
    // It may be the case that a backup of this file exists but
    // does not satisfy the criteria specified in the user's restore
    //          operands.
    // *Action: None - this is an informational message. See message 6026 for
    //          further details.
    bcm@bcm-laptop:~$ oerr rman 6026
    6026, 1, "some targets not found - aborting restore"
    // *Cause: Some of the files specified for restore could not be found.
    // Message 6023, 6024, or 6025 is also issued to indicate which
    // files could not be found. Some common reasons why a file
    // can not be restored are that there is no backup
    // or copy of the file that is known to recovery manager, or
    // there are no backups or copies that fall within the criteria
    // specified on the RESTORE command, or some datafile copies have
    // been made but not cataloged.
    // *Action: The Recovery Manager LIST command can be used to display the
    // backups and copies that Recovery Manager
    // knows about. Select the files to be restored from that list.
    bcm@bcm-laptop:~$

    :-) that was the quickest reply in history.

    All the archive logs backup pieces are together. They're from a full backup of the DB. I restored all the datafiles without a problem but the archive log restore cmd gave this error. I also tried using the restore archivelog all from logseq cmd .. but I got the same error.
    When I ran the 'restore archivelog all preview;' cmd I got a list of the following warnings:

    no channel to restore a backup or copy of archived log for thread 1 with sequence 25 and starting SCN of 9668998639035
    no channel to restore a backup or copy of archived log for thread 1 with sequence 26 and starting SCN of 9668998639518

    But both the preview and the 'list backup of archivelog all;' commands listed the archivelog backup pieces that I have in the local dir.

    Could it be something to do with the instance number of the DB?
    Thanks.
