Unanswered: using find or search function in excel

I have been using the Search and Find function in excel, which gives me the position of a character or word in a cell, this part works great. But if the text I am looking for is not in the reference cell I get a "#value". How can I change the formula to handle this error? I would like for the formula to return an empty cell or zero, so that I can use an IF statement to trigger other events on the spread sheet.

Depends on your version of Excel - you can either nest it in an IF/ISERROR function (Excel 2003 or earlier) or an IFERROR function (Excel 2007 or later)

    =IF(ISERROR(SEARCH("find_text","within_text")),"", SEARCH("find_text","within_text"))

    =IFERROR(SEARCH("find_text","within_text"),"")
