Unanswered: Connecting foreign DBMS in CLP

    Hallo everyone,

on my Ubuntu machine, I am working with my DB2 Server without any particular SQL-Connect, just via CLP.

I would like to experiment a little bit to build a small datawarehouse. To do so, I have installed Oracle in my machine.

    My question:
Is it possible to extract datas in my Oracle via DB2 CLP?
I have tried to google for this, unfortunately I just found informations regarding drivers needed and available to connect to a particular DBMS.

I did also try to use a SQL-Client to connect to my DB2 Server. It came out that this SQL-Client does not support the parallel connectivities in one connection.

So, this is actually kinda very simple issue, since in datawarehouse, it is common to extract datas from various DBMS. How is it technically implemented to do so?

    Thank you for your help.

You can "federate" from DB2 to Oracle (and other types of RDBMS).

Study the INFOCENTER for details about federation. Learn from there.

Oracle-SQL-Developer can be used against a DB2 database.
