    Unanswered: DB2 registery lost ?

    Gurus,

it is a test env. Once it was working, then some drives went down. after mapping new drives,db is not starting

    Code:
    [db2inst1@NP1-TOR-GSL /home/db2inst1]$ db2ilist
    File /home/db2inst1/sqllib/bin/db2iutil not found.
    Exiting...

    [db2inst1@NP1-TOR-GSL /home/db2inst1]$ db2set

DBI1306N The instance profile is not defined.

    Explanation:

The instance is not defined in the target machine registry.

    User response:

Specify an existing instance name or create the required instance.
Can someone help me restore whatever is lost ? My guess is db registery is lost.

Any command to re-create or point to instance profile.

    TIA

    go to /opt/ibm/db2/....../instance and run db2iupdt <instance-name>.

You will need to be root (or sudo root).

What operating-system are you using ?

Looks like the $INSTHOME (instance home directory /home/db2inst1 ) might either be on a file system that is not correctly mounted, or is mounted but has been hosed.

Are you quite sure that nothing changed in /home/db2inst1 ?

The error message suggests that /home/db2inst1 has missing links...

If you doubt this, then take a listing of the contents of /home/db2inst1/sqllib
    e.g.

    ls -lR /home/db2inst1/sqllib > /tmp/broken_home.txt

and diff that file with the output of the same command on a working environment...

    Does the symlink /home/db2inst1/sqllib/bin/db2iutil exist?

    Does the file /opt/IBM/db2/V9.7/bin/db2iutil exist?

Thank you everyone. you are right,

There were some files/directories were missing. This may due to couple of volumes were dismounted. There for I have reinstall the db2 ,recreated the instance /restore the image

    Thank again
