How much actual experience do you have as a DB2 DBA?
How much experience writing SQL quesies with DB2?

Until you are quite fluent using DB2, you should not be concerned about certification.

IMHO, one of the best way to learn more is by actually trying things. In an isolated area (where no one else will be impacted by your testing), try some different things that you are interested in. Suggest you download a local copy of the DB2 documentation for your release of DB2.

Will your work be on a Win-based, *NIX, or Mainframe system?

A fresher should NOT be looking for certification.

I have been working for 3 years in DB2/Windows 24/7 system.
    I have done DB2 install/upgrade from v8.2 to 9.7 fp 4
    done data migration
    done configuration
    done tunning
    done backup solution
    done optimization
    setup HADR and managing it
Performing DR test time to time
    Done documentations
doing db health check time to time.

But I have not done any big development using SQL. but doing small SQL scripts for day to day work.

I have not done any certification. But I have a good RDBMS theoritical knowledge.
Finally I am not working as DBA. even no DBA exist in the company.
my Job title is Support analyst.

Do you think am I doing DBA job? Is it reasonable to ask my manager to change my job title as DBA? if not what else I have to do ?

    Thanks

I have not done any certification.
    why not?

If you take the advice of members of an internet site
and your manager tells you to take a walk
are you then going to blame the advisors?

I am about ready to sit the certification.

First, my manager is a non technical guy. he cant understand anything about DB2 or any databases and he doesnt know even what i am doing. But he trust me.
