Question Unanswered: dyn. DB View content

    Hello,
I need some assistance from you all to get this issue solved.

I have a table "ASSET_DATA" which contains a lot of devices with up to 10 attributes.

    CINAME, Attr1, Attr2, ... Attr10

A secondary tool has to build a map on these assets. the map layout is based on 3 levels. Each of these 10 attributes can be on of these levels.

    So I created a second table "LEVEL_SETUP"

    COLUMNNAME, OPERATOR, VALUE, LEVEL1, LEVEL2, LEVEL3
    Attr1, =, 'DE', Attr4, Attr5, Att7
    Attr4, like, '1stL_%', Attr8, Attr,9 Attr10

I would like to fill the DB View fileds LEVEL1, LEVEL2, LEVEL3 dynamicly if the assets matches one of the criterias defined in "LEVEL_SETUP". If no match, da default level setup is choosen "Attr1, Attr2, Attr3".

I did some research but I am confused in the possibilities SQL provides.
E.g. is it required to build a sep. table which has per asset the levels which have to be used. Is there a possibility to fill the view dynamicly ...

Thanks for you help and sharing your best pratices with me.

    Regards,
    Steve (SQL dummie)

I am confused regarding about what you have & what you desire.
You can lead some folks to knowledge, but you can not make them think.
The average person thinks he's above average!
For most folks, they don't know, what they don't know.
