    Unanswered: Word of the Day Splash Screen

    Has anyone tried having different Word of the Day displayed on a splash screen?
    1. table holding all word of the day
    2. splash screen/form cycles by day through the table and display the word of the day...

    Have never done this, but the simplest way would probably be to have 366 'words of the day,' each one having a 'Reference Number' of 1-366 in your WOD Table. You could then
    1. Have a Form Bound to the WOD Table
    2. Place ReferenceNumber and WOD Fields on the Form
    3. On Opening the Form have it check for the numeric day of the year and pull the Record whose 'Reference Number' matches the numeric day of the year.
    You can determine the day-of-the-year using

    So this code will pull the corresponding WOD:

    Private Sub Form_Load()
     DoCmd.FindRecord Format(Date, "y")
    End Sub

    I'd probably have a the ReferenceNumber Field displayed on the Form, between two Labels, these being

    "Today is Day"

    "of the Year"

    So you'd see

    Today is Day [ReferenceNumber] of the Year

    and the WOD Field would show just that, your Word of the Day.

    This is a bare bones approach. I'd use the Timer to open your next Form and close the Splashform, and probably also have a Command Button to do this same thing, if the user didn't care to expand their vocabulary!

    Hope this helps!

    Here is what I have based on your reply

    Private Sub Form_Load()
    Dim lngQuoteCount As Long, ID As Long, Timex As Long
    lngQuoteCount = DCount("*", "tblQuotes")
    ID = Int((lngQuoteCount * Rnd) + 1)
    Me.txtQuote = DLookup("Quote", "tblQuotes", "[QID]=" & ID)
    Me.txtBY = DLookup("By", "tblquotes", "[QID]=" & ID)
    End Sub
