Unanswered: connections remain in waiting state

    Hi colleagues,

    db2 version: 8.1
    AIX 5.3 OS.

    I have the following casuistry:

settings in the database I have set this.
Max number of active applications (MAXAPPLS) = 80.

Users make connections to the database and then these are in waiting state, then the system displays the following message is:
The RETCODE = -1040 Most Likely means:

SQL1040N The maximum number of applications is already connected
    to the database.

The connections in waiting status are accounted for parameter MAXAPPLS?
As I can not make these connections remain in waiting state?

Thank you very much and best regards.

Your users or applications need to disconnect from the database after finishing work, otherwise connections remain active, even if no work is done.

if the user or application runs a select and ends, because the connection is in pending status?

    Thank you very much.

I don't know what "pending status" means in this context. Can you show the console output or a screenshot of what you mean by that?

Ok, so "UOW Waiting" means that the connection is idle and waiting for the client application/user to do something. DB2 will not automatically close idle connections, if that's what you're asking.

I have setting this paarmeters in the database.
settings in the database I have set this.
Max number of active applications (MAXAPPLS) = 80.

My question is whether the manager counted the connections in pending state for parameter MAXAPPLS?
these connections in pending status when they disappear?

    Thank you for you help.
