Question Unanswered: Creating multiple instance on windows

    Hi guys,

I am just a starter to db2 and this is my first thread...

Please let me know what are the steps required to create multiple instances in db2 windows within the same db2 copy.

I know the commands for instance creation and all but other than that some settings needs to be changed which i am not aware...

It will be a great help if you can assist me...

    Thanks in advance

The db2command will create the instance and also make the entry in "services". The 'tricky' issue is the command shell (db2cmd). I assume that you created the default instance "DB2" during installation. So the commands from the shell only apply for that instance. You must overrride the "DB2INSTANCE=DB2" to "DB2INSTANCE=your_2nd_instance" to be able to access the new instance. So, when you have more than 1 instance on windows, ALWAYS check your DB2INSTANCE value.
Somewhere between " too small" and " too large" lies the size that is just right.
