    Unanswered: MODIFIED BY in LOAD

    Hallo everyone,

I have an interesting case for deciding how to set the MODIFIED BY option:

    "I am 5" tall","my Name"

How can I tell db2, that " beside the 5 is supossed to be a data?

    Another question regarding LOAD:
Today I had to back up the database, because I have brought the database into a backup pending status after a LOAD command. It was irritating. I got the tipp from the manual that I could use NONRECOVERABLE, so that the table space wont be put in backup pending status. My question: I want to load a csv-file into a table, which doesnt have descendent tables and other foreign key constrains(the "only" thing is that the table has primary keys). How possible is it, that the loaded table will be put into CHECK pending status after the LOAD? I want to be carefull with the LOAD command.

    Thank you everyone.

    Regards,
    Ratna

Change it to "I am 5"" tall","my Name" and it should be alright.

    Hallo cauliflower,

thank you for the answer. I have tested it, it worked. Would you please explain to me, how db2 technically treats this kind of case?

I assume, db2 first "cuts" in repect of column delimieter. And then we have for the first column this:

    Code:
    "I am 5"" tall"
Is it a standard, that if " pops up twice, it will be handled as data?

    Thank you.

    Regards,
    Ratna

It seems to be the DB2 way to escape single and double quotes. See also DB2 Survival Guide by Michael Thomas.
