How much database experience do you have? How long have you worked in IT?

Are you currently working in an organization that uses DB2?

Why not approach your organization and explain your desire to move into database administration? Often a person with experience on the system using the database infrastructure in place is way ahead of someone with limited experience even if they have some bit of "hands on" training. Also, you have considerable experience with the environment - which no new hire will have.

If you can begin to practice/study on your existing test system, it would be an excellent way to move towards an admin position.
