    Unanswered: get the error SQL30081N and don't know what to do!

    Hi,

    When I try to connect to my db2 database I get the following error:

    SQL30081N A communication error has been detected. Communication protocol
    being used: "TCP/IP". Communication API being used: "SOCKETS". Location
    where the error was detected: "127.0.0.1". Communication function detecting
    the error: "connect". Protocol specific error code(s): "111", "*", "*".
    SQLSTATE=08001

    The error appeared after I imported some data with "db2move" from a windows platform to a linux platform. The userids on the two servers are not the same. (don't know if this information is important)

    Also the db2 version is 9.7 with no fixpack.

    Any help would really be appreciated.

    It's probably one of:
    - the instance is not running;
    - the firewall does not let incoming connections on the DB2 port;
    - the node or the database is cataloged incorrectly.

    "It does not work" is not a valid problem statement.

    I think the problem is that the database is cataloged wrong.

    when running "db2 list db directory" I get:

    Database 2 entry:

    Database alias = WGDATA
    Database name = WGDATAL
    Node name = WGCMNODE
    Database release level = d.00
    Comment =
    Directory entry type = Remote
    Catalog database partition number = -1
    Alternate server hostname =
    Alternate server port number =

    Database alias = WGDATAL
    Database name = WGDATAL
    Local database directory = /home/wgdb
    Database release level = d.00
    Comment =
    Directory entry type = Indirect
    Catalog database partition number = 0
    Alternate server hostname =
    Alternate server port number =

    where WGDATA is the db i'm trying to connect to. Before I imported data from another db2 server the database was set as a local database and not as one running on a remote node.

    I want to change WGDATA back to being a local database. but how can I do that?

    db2 uncatalog db WGDATA
    db2 catalog db WGDATAL as WGDATA
