compress yes for temporarily table --> automatic implemented?

    Hallo everyone,

if I am creating a session table with command DECLARE GLOBAL TEMPORARY TABLE, and I want to implement row compression, do I have to explicitely COMPRESS YES ?

I am really not sure, because in the manual:
    Code:
the row compression for temporarily table is automatically activated from DB2 Storage Optimization
    Thank you for the advice.

    Regards,
    Ratna

So, you don't believe what the manual says? Did you find the COMPRESS option in the DECLARE GLOBAL TEMPORARY TABLE statement description?

    Hi

For your question regarding compression... from db2 9.7 we can use create global temporary table CGTT which has compression enabled by default.

    From the manual

"Table compression is on by default for CGTT (if you purchase the option)."

DGTT (Declare Global temporary tables) doesn't have compression enabled and you cannot enable with compress yes. I haven't seen an option in the syntax for declare global temporary table. Hope this helps.

    Wrong.

But then again, if one doesn't believe what the manual says...

Index compression is enabled for indexes that are created on declared temporary tables.
