    Red face Unanswered: 4D database as a linked server in MSSQL

    I need to get access to a 4D database from MSSQL.
    I tried with this script, using an ODBC connection, with bad results:

    EXEC sp_addlinkedserver
    @server = 'yourLinkedDBName',
    @srvproduct = 'mydb.4db',
    @provider = 'MSDASQL',
    @provstr = 'dsn=myDB4Dv11;UID=Designer;'

    I get the message error:
    Data source name not found and no default driver specified.

    Please someone can help me?
    Thank you

    If you are going to use a dsn then you need to create a dsn first which as all the connection information. It's an ODBC connection. Try looking on your start-->control panel--> ....

    Good luck...

    Of course I created a dsn connection, which works right. The problem is using it in sql!

    Did you create the DSN on the server, or on your client machine? It should be on the server.
