    Unanswered: Deactivate database

    Hi,

We have set up a fail over system for our production server( table partitioned). where we have to purge our old data . when we tried to detach the tables the AIC is not initiating of its own. Hence whenever we face this issue we used to do an instance bounce which will initiate the AIC clean up but we have to freeze the DB to prevent it from jumping into failover.
do we really need an instance recycle for this or just a deactivate and activate of the database is enough .

incase of deactivating the DB will it move to a failover server?

    AIX -6.1.0.0
    DB2 v9.7.0.6", "s120629", "IP23414", and Fix Pack"6".

    Thanks in advance

Good DBAs are not formed in a week or a month. They are created little by little, day by day. Protracted and patient effort is needed to develop good DBAs.
