    Wink Update statistic high??

    Hi,

To optimize my sql queries, i execute UPDATE STATISTIC HIGH for the entire database. I do not do it specifically for large table.

    My question is:
What is the difference between the two instructions listed below and which is more efficient?

    1- UPDATE STATISTIC HIGH
2- UPDATE STATISTIC HIGH for TABLE

    Oh,

    I think I know your nickname :-)

My understanding is that Update Statistics High will build statistics for all the tables and stored procedures and functions, and UPDATE STATISTICS FOR TABLE, only for the tables .

Doing this way will give you accurate statistics, but probably a bit excessive in the sense that you probably do not need HIGH statistics for all the columns in all the tables.

This can make the UPDATE STATISTICS command very or too long to execute.

Check Version 12.10 and the AUS options, which allows you to define a threshold on which the engine will consider necessary to recalculate the statistics for a table.
