SQL Server Database Administrator
Description : - Responsible for supporting the SQL Server databases and ensuring their performance, availability and security. Backup support for oracle and db2 databases. Applies extensive and advanced technical expertise, and has full knowledge of other related disciplines. Develops technical solutions to complex problems which require regular use of ingenuity and creativity. Contributes to the development of new principles and theories. Assignments are often self-initiated. Considered a subject matter expert.

Develops, implements, administers, and maintains policies and procedures for ensuring the security and integrity of the company database. Implements data models, database designs, data access and table maintenance codes. Resolves database performance and capacity issues, and replication and other distributed data issues. Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of complicated tasks. May lead and direct the work of others. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
Specific Job Description (to be provided by hiring manager)
? Ensure availability and performance of the databases that support the system. Proactively monitor the database systems to ensure minimum downtime. Work with the Windows Administration team to maintain the databases.
? Capacity planning and monitoring database growth. Providing trend analysis to management team to enable them to make informed decisions regarding resource management.
? Responsible for troubleshooting and problem solving of issues related to the SQL Server and Oracle databases.
? Responsible for the improvement and maintenance of the databases to include rollout and upgrades.
? Responsible for implementation and release of database changes according to agreed timescales and costs.
? Write and code logical and physical database descriptions and specify identifiers of database to management system or direct others in coding descriptions.
? Create shell scripts for task automation.
? Oversee backup, clustering, mirroring, replication and failover.
? 24x7 and on-call support duties.
? Other duties as assigned.
