    Unanswered: DB2 9.7 error

    Hi, I am trying to install DB2 Data server client 9.7 on AIX 6.1 as root user(sesu to root).

    1. Down load install Image and gunzip and tar the image
    2. Ran ./db2prereqcheck but no out put
    3. The file system /opt/ibm/db2 is own by root
    4. When I ran ./db2setup , had the following message and then the install
    launch pad appear for few seconds as disappear

    "DBI1190I db2setup is preparing the DB2 Setup wizard which will guide
    you through the program setup process. Please wait"

    5. Exceed was running and I can run xclock

    Your help is very much appreciated.

    Check /tmp/db2setup.log. Try running db2setup with the trace option (db2setup -t /tmp/db2setup.trc).

    Thanks, the recomended /tmp space is 2GB but the box I run has only 1GB . Do you think that could be the case ? I am away from the site and will run the trace tomorrow.

    If GUI install continues to fail, use db2_install instead.

    Hi Thanks , it works after fixing JAVA issue by export JAVA_COMPILER=NONE. But I can't start the db2cc and it says not found. I logon on as instance owner and the instance is up. Check the .profile and it has . /home/db2inst1/sqllib/db2profile - Any help is appreciated

    look at the doc...
    db2cc and other tools are not shipped anymore on specific platforms
    always start tools from client (windows...)
    db2cc will be removed soon - data studio should be used...

    Thanks a lot. I need to configure connections to the mainframe from the data server client. I did on Win2008 via CCA. But I thought it's available on AIX as well for DB2 9.7. Can you please direct me how to setup connetions between data server client and the Z/os. I know what parameters should be used. But always used CCA.

    all info from the doc can not be copied in this forum
    have a look at Cataloging a TCP/IP node from a client using the CLP
    db2 catalog node
    db2 catalog db....
    db2 connect is needed to connect to db2 z/system

    Thanks a lot. Can I issue those calalog commands as instance owner (under userid db2inst1) please ? If not what command should I need to issue to give SYSADM authority to db2inst1 ? Many thaks for your advice.

    Yes it checkes and aborts if too small.

    check if you are part of sys_admin group defined in dbm cfg
    usually instance owner is also sysadmin (part of this group)
