    I can't CREATE DATABASE

    Hello, I install MySQL 5.5.29 in MacOs the instalation is good, but now I can't make my first database, the system say to me:

    Code:
    ERROR 1006 (HY000): Can't create database 'symfony' (errno: 2)
    you now?

    check for file permissions
    did you do the installation yourself or did you use an XAMPP installer.

    assuming you used a MySQL download check the install instructions to see if there are additional steps
    I'd rather be riding on the Tiger 800 or the Norton

    If you can log into the database then issue the following command:

    Code:
    mysql> show global variables like 'datadir';
    +---------------+-----------------+
    | Variable_name | Value           |
    +---------------+-----------------+
    | datadir       | /var/lib/mysql/ | 
    +---------------+-----------------+
    1 row in set (0.00 sec)
    This parameter tells you where the folder is or should be. If it does not exist make sure that this is created and owned by user running MySQL (typically user mysql).
