•Manage and administer Oracle and SQL Server databases for CTIS’ clientele. Responsibilities include, but not limited to, installation, configuration, upgrade, patching, security management, user management, performance tuning, backup and recovery, etc.
•Participate in Data Modeling activities. Review logical/physical databases design with developers and create objects in development, maintenance, testing, training, and production environments. Recommend appropriate de-normalization and/or indexing techniques to improve data access methods.
•Setup database users, and assign appropriate roles and privileges. Monitor database access logs and security logs. Implement necessary security controls to safeguard and protect the databases. Implement database security plan.
•Review and apply database security patches on proactive basis. Run vulnerability scan software to detect security vulnerabilities, and take corrective and preventive actions.
•Set-up database backup jobs, and monitor them. Perform backup/recovery simulation tests. Implement database disaster recovery plan.
•Monitor and review database performance statistics. Run diagnostic tools to identify database performance bottlenecks. Take appropriate corrective and preventive actions to improve database performance. Work with development teams to tune SQL queries.
•Work with development teams to setup/configure Oracle development tools and IDEs on desktops. Train/Guide users and developers on optimal usage of database resources. Answer developer questions. Perform impact analysis.
•Configure and administer application servers and middle-tier software such as Apache, Oracle11g WebLogic Application Server. Setup J2EE applications, deploy EAR/WAR files, trouble-shoot application server issues.
•Test and deploy application server security patches, configure application server backup jobs, monitor application server, diagnose application server related issues and take appropriate corrective and preventive actions.
•Bachelor Degree in Computer Science or related IT technology field
•Minimum 3 to 5 years of Oracle DBA experience supporting Oracle10g/11g in a production environment
•Minimum 2 to 3 years of SQL Server DBA experience in a production environment
•Minimum 1 year of experience with Oracle11g Application Server
•Minimum 3 years of software development experience
