    Unanswered: backup taken with compress option, Will normal restore work

    HI all
    I have taken backup with compress option. can i restore that backup file with normal restorecommand or i have to use any option in restore command.

    what will be the difference in size if i use compress option in backup command?

    yes you can - no option for de-compress
    the ratio depends..take both compress and not and check...

    You do not have to specify any options for the restore if using a backup taken with the compress option.

    The restore command will check the backup header to see if the backup image was taken withe the compress option automatically.
