    Unanswered: ODBC Install Issue

    Hi Everyone,
I am trying to install the ODBC drivers for v9.1 on a new Windows 7 IBM Levono laptop for a client. I have been able to do the install and make the connection on other Windows 7 machines with no problems. This new laptop is a problem! I can launch the install software and select install new instance. When the procedure starts, the Windows Installer screen appears and the procedure hangs. I worked for several hours with the firm who's database we are trying to access. They finally gave up. Almost to the point of setting the machine back to factory specs and start all over. What am I missing? (As you probably can guess, I'm new to the db2 arena...)
    Thanks for the help!

Make sure that you are using the *final fixpack* of the v9.1 client software.
Is this the run time client, or the full client, or which client exactly?
Is it the 64-bit client or the 32-bit client ?

    db2mor,

While working with the 3rd party, they downloaded the client off the web. I believe it was the latest/greatest of v9.1, but won't swear to it. How do I tell?

I believe this to be the full 32-bit client.
I will double check this when I can get on the users pc.
    Thanks for the interest!

You can use trace option in the db2setup command to understand where the install "hangs"

    setup - Install DB2
