    Unanswered: informix to sql server

    hi
    i have database which is created with informix ,can i translate this database to sql server
    can someone help me

    Yes, an Informix database can be "translated" to run on Microsoft SQL Server.

    You may need professional help to do that conversion for you, depending on:
    1. The complexity of the problem.
    2. The expertise that you already have.
    3. The time that you have to do the conversion.
    4. Other factors.

    Yes, INFORMIX has a good ANSI/ISO Standard core that will map into SQL Server.
    No, there is no tool to do it for you. You will need help from a human.

    Indexing will be very different. Utilities will be totally different.

    INFORMIX 4GL is much stronger than T-SQL, so procs wil not port easily.
