    Lightbulb Unanswered: Replication

My work place has branches in many states and so my supervisor wants me to understand the process behind how the newyork guys pull a replication from one of the file servers they have. Because they dont have access to our production database. He mentioned that no coding is required. I know how to set up a replication between remote databases that are connected through the network but I just dont know how the replication goes between two disconnected networks or databases with an intermediate fileserver. People out there pls help me to understand this. Any material or link would also be appreciated...

Through a file system? Are they replicating a filesystem, or are they replicating a database? DFS will replicate a filesystem, and most SANs can do bitwise replication, although the target is usually offline.

they are replicating a database... The main database is Michigan.. But they set up pull subscription from newyork... both the databases are remote... and the newyork people dont have access to our production database.. So they pull data from a file server... I just want to know the process... I know the replication concept between two databases though.. Whats puzzling me is how do one can subscribe to a file server???
