Unanswered: DB2 uninstalled then installed again. Reconnect to data?

    Hi. I use DB2 for Windows v9.5.0.808.

Recently I "upgraded" from Windows XP SP3 to Windows 7 SP1, after which process I found DB2, and most other application software, gone. I had, however, made a full backup of my hard drive to an external disk before starting.

So I re-installed the exact same version of DB2 that I had before.

Now I am wondering if I can define my databases again, but leverage the data I already have, by pointing at it somehow, and avoid having to redefine and repopulate my tables.

The original data was under C:\db2\NODE0000.

    Thanks,
    Art Gardner

Probably not. OS backups will not necessarily get you a working DB. You should have a DB2 backup of you database. Then you would be in business.

Yes, it's a bit late for that, but thanks for the comment. It is just test data, so not a super-painful loss.

You could try restoring the database file to the exact same location, making sure file permissions don't change (I'm assuming you did a proper backup, not a drag-and-drop kind), then issue the DB2 command: catalog db whatever on c:

"It does not work" is not a valid problem statement.
