    Unanswered: Archiving Logs

    Hello All,

    DB2 version 9.5 / os AIX 6.1
    DB is enabled for archival logging and logs were archiving to tsm.

    How to calculate the no. of files archived to tsm per day approx?

    other than db2adutl query logs.

    Thanks

    Regards
    Meena.s

    we use db2diag to monitor for problems with archive
    the archive message could be grepped with db2diag command

    Good DBAs are not formed in a week or a month. They are created little by little, day by day. Protracted and patient effort is needed to develop good DBAs.

    Thanks Przytula.

    can i have the exact command you use . whether the output will be in no of log files archived ?
    Here in our scenario tsm server is going to maintenance window , so it not be available so db2 will archive logs to log archive path mentioned in the db. so we are calculating the approximate space used.

    Options :

    a)
    db2 list history archive log all for <dbname>
    b)
    db2adutl query logs db <dbname>
    c) DB_HISTROY admin view
    DB_HISTORY

    You have to use the output to calculate the count ...

    although all syntax is also in the doc (accessible for public, just read..)
    we check at hour interval
    db2diag ${DIAGPATH}/db2diag.log -time ${YEAR}-${MONTH}-${DAY}-${FHOUR}.00.00.000000 -g msg:=archive -l Severe > ${DIAGPATH}/ARCHIVE.errors
    db2diag ${DIAGPATH}/db2diag.log -time ${YEAR}-${MONTH}-${DAY}-${FHOUR}.00.00.000000 -g msg:=archive -l Error >> ${DIAGPATH}/ARCHIVE.errors

    @Meena, You may want to use "-l Info" to get the archive success db2diag entries.

    Thanks
