Unanswered: Oracle 10g 64-bit client on Windows 2008R2

    Hi,

For compatibility reasons I need to install a 64-bit Oracle 10g client on Windows 2008R2.
I could install the 32-bits version of Oracle client 10g without any problem.

The reason is, that I have to communicate to a 11gR2 database and an old 8.7.1 database. Oracle 10g is able to do this.

The ERP system is running on Windows 2008R2 and has a e-commerce module that only works with 64-bit clients.
I am not able to install the ERP on e.g. Windows 2003.

I tried many things (by changing the oraparam.ini file etc.) but until now without success.

I found somewhere that the version 102040 client is able to install on Windows 2008R2 (with oraparam.ini change)
but since all old versions are not downloadable on the Oracle site anymore I couldn't try it.

    Can anyone help?

    Regards,

    Wim Venema

V11 can not inter-operate directly with V8 DB & vice versa.
SQL*Net compatibiity only extends 2 major version difference.
    V8 can work with V10 & V9 can work with V11.

Sure, but you can't install V9 clients on Windows 2008R2.

The question is, how to install a 64-bit v10 client on Windows 2008R2.

    Hi,

Found the solution by installing the "Oracle 10g Vista w2k8 x64 client 10.2.0.4."
You have to update the oraparam.ini file by adding version 6.1 to the list of allowed operating systems.
