Unanswered: systools <sigh>
Okay, the DAS has been deprecated, right? So on my linux-laptop I installed express-c 10.1.2. wihtout DAS.
At my client's site the've still got DAS, but no systools. That's okay because it all runs on AIX boxes whitout a graphical interface so db2cc never worked for them. Now I start using the "db2dart" utility (for HWM purposes) and on those machines alarm-bells start making noice because they are allergic to "public" and that is the way db2dart creates systools under the covers.
What to do:
- revoke public from systools?
- drop systools after using db2dart?
- make sure all (new) databases are equipped with a well-configured systools?
Personally I go for the 3rd option and I want to use my laptop/db2 to test my syntax:
No go! Error SQL4404N meaning the DAS does not exist!
db2 create tools catalog use existing database sample keep inactive
Something is going wrong: either in my brain or in db2. I hope for the latter
The systools(pace) is meant for the DAS and for the DB2 utilities, right? So when you do not use DAS anymore you should be able to create it for the utils... but how?
Somewhere between " too small" and " too large" lies the size that is just right.
