    Unanswered: Question over the creation of schema.

    Hi,

    In our setup db2 V9.7 with fixpack 4

    Question over the creation of schema.

    Login with the user of db2inst1 and tried to create the schema with the name of "sample". Schema created successfully but the owner name is showing with "DB2INST1".

    But Owner need to "SYSIBM".. How to create the schema with the owner of "SYSIBM".

    Thanks,
    laxman.

    this is not possible : authorization can not point to existing schema
    what is the purpose ? / why this ?

    Guy thanks for your reply..

    Initially in our existing setup schemas like db2DWH,vr_etl using the owner of SYSIBM. (These schemas are created under instance level db2inst1)

    Command to create the schema : CREATE SCHEMA "db2DWH";

    But,

    I followed the same command to create the schema CREATE SCHEMA "SAMPLE"; But it's using the owner of "DB2INST1"

    Thanks,
    laxman.

    if creating a schema explicitly the owner is the user
    if creating a schema implicitly (eg create table xx.tt) xx will be owned by sysibm

    The create schema command in DB2 is useless, since a schema is automatically created the first time a new schema name is used in a Create Table SQL statement (or other create statement which has a schema name). Create Schema only exists in DB2 LUW because former Oracle DBA's were having severe anxiety attacks if they could not explicitly create a schema in DB2.
