From a user perspective, you click on the little triangle at the right edge of the control and a list pops up (or down). Click on one of the items in the list, and you're done!

From a designer/coder perspective, we'd have to know what tool(s) you are using to be able to help!

Thank you Pat for your reply. I am trying to get the coding correct for Combo box 1 to drop the correct table into combo box 2. Example below.

    Combo Box 1:

    Aquarium/Zoo
    Architecture
    Commercial
    Pool/Fountain
    Special Projects

Combo Box 2 would pull a list that corresponds to the selection.

If Aquarium/Zoo was selected then it would only give the following drop down:

    Architect/Exhibit
    Hospitality
    Installers
    Institutions
    Other
    Restaurant

and so on... I appreciate any help you could give to me on this topic. I am very rusty on Access and really find the 2010 and newer very helpful but also new ha ha.

Aha! The Microsoft Access was the part that I needed!

I'll move this thread to the Microsoft Access forum here on DBForums. I'd bet that someone there can help you with the details!

    One model

    Assumed setup:
The values for the first combo box are in tblAreas:
AreaID (primary key), AreaName (text), [any other fields]
The values for the second combo box are in tblDepts:
DeptID (primary key), AID(foreign key from tblAreas), DeptName, [any other fields]

The form is called frmCascade has two combo boxes - cmbArea and cmbDept.
    cmbArea:
    Column count = 2
    Bound column = 1
    Column widths = 0cm; [control's width]
Row source: "SELECT AreaID, AreaName FROM tblAreas;"

    cmbDept:
    Column count = 2
    Bound column = 1
    Column widths = 0cm; [control's width]
Row source: "SELECT DeptID, DeptName FROM tblDepts WHERE AID = [Forms]![frmCascade].[cmbArea];"
10% of magic is knowing something that no-one else does. The rest is misdirection.
