Unanswered: Database design question. Help me please, this report writing is my life?

You are the Project Manager of a team of database designers working for a Facilities Management IT Company who will produce a database application for USA Travel. At the moment the department uses standard ER diagrams and normalisation techniques when designing any database systems. The Head of Department wants to invest in some tools to aid with database design and to consider using more advanced design techniques. The Head is also concerned about the security of the application.
Write a report for your Head of Department that discusses:
    • The advantages and disadvantages of using advanced techniques such as the Enhanced Entity Relationship (EER) model compared to the traditional approach of using standard ER diagrams and normalisation.
    • Evaluates the Oracle Data Modeler and Designer tools.
This section should discuss the tools and how they aide the development of a database system. Discuss what advantages and disadvantages such tools have.
    • Reviews what database specific security issues could affect a database application.
This section should give an overview of what problems could affect a database and what steps can be taken to prevent them.
Include examples where appropriate, which should be based on the USA Travel scenario as far as possible.

prior to today, I had never heard about Enhanced Entity Relationship (EER).
IMO, it appears to be a solution in search of a problem when it comes to any RDBMS.
Object Oriented Programming & RDBMS do not play well together.
Folks are free to disagree with some or all the above.
You can lead some folks to knowledge, but you can not make them think.
The average person thinks he's above average!
For most folks, they don't know, what they don't know.
Good judgement comes from experience. Experience comes from bad judgement.

I suggest that you don't count on getting any material assistance from here.

    We don't do homework assignments.

I still don't get it ... do you expect someone to write that for you? I can't believe that 3 weeks of research didn't get any result.

We won't do your homework for you.

If you show us what you've already tried then we can offer critique.

If you have any specific questions then we may be able to help there too.

So you've spent 3 weeks & come up with nothing, but you expect a forum member to stay up all night to write your assignment for you?

Steps to assist you in your report:
    1. List any/all advanced techniques that you can find, then compare them with the traditional methods (list the pros & cons of each).
    2. Describe in broad terms the Oracle Data Modeller & Oracle Designer tools, noting how relevant/useful they are in database development. Again, list pros & cons/advantages & disadvantages.
    3. Consider what problems a database might have in terms of security (or lack of security) in relation to applications e.g. How secure is the user's login? How secure does it need to be? What data should users be able to access? How does the database control that access? etc etc etc.
90% of users' problems can be resolved by punching them - the other 10% by switching off their PCs.

You put her assignment question itself, but in a different light But as other members rightly said, no one will do any help with your assignment. Please let us know what kind of rnd you have done for the past 3 weeks?
