    1.db2level - platform
    2.check info center for your version and check kernel setting/limits
    3. scnd error : pw not correct as indicated
    have you created a new security plugin ? reset to default by db2 and test again -

    min seg size (bytes) = 1

    ------ Semaphore Limits --------
    max number of arrays = 1024
    max semaphores per array = 250

    max ops per semop call = 32
    semaphore max value = 32767

    ------ Messages: Limits --------
    max queues system wide = 1024
    max size of message (bytes) = 65536

    #kernel.sem=<SEMMSL> <SEMMNS> <SEMOPM> <SEMMNI>
    kernel.sem=250 256000 32 4096
    kernel.msgmni=16384
    kernel.msgmax=65536

    Anything else logged in the db2diag.log just before/after "db2chparm failed to adjust shared memory limits (kernel.shmmax)"? Since db2 failed to update shmmax for some reason, try increasing it manually.

    Just to add one thing...

    The installation is a non root installation? Will this have an effect on why DB2 is unable to update
    ???
