    Unanswered: sqlloader not loading into Clob field, help required please

    Hi,

    Wanted to load the positional flat file data into 2 columns and the entire row into 3rd column which is defined as CLOB datatype.

    Db structure:
    create table orginfo(
    Orgname varchar2(4000 byte),
    Secorgname varchar2(4000 byte),
    Fullrecinfo CLOB);

    Sample record info of datafile attached.

    Control file information:

    Load Data
    APPEND
    INTO TABLE orginfo
    (
    ORGNAME POSITION(1:4000),
    SECORGNAME POSITION(4001:8000),
    FULLRECINFO ":ORGNAME || ECORGNAME "
    )

    It is throwing the error specified below:
    SQL*Loader-309: No SQL string allowed as part of FULL_REC_INFO field specification

    When modified the control file alternatively as per below code also to no avail:
    TO_CLOB( ":ORGNAME || ECORGNAME" )

    SQL*Loader-350: Syntax error at line 7.
    Expecting valid column specification, "," or ")", found "TO_CLOB".
    FULL_REC_INFO TO_CLOB( ":ORGNAME || ECORGNAME " ).

    Could anyone please provide a solution to it. I have got struck on this and need to solve this asap.

    Thanks & Regards,

    You can lead some folks to knowledge, but you can not make them think.
