Unanswered: Confusion : First Active log db cfg paramter

    Hi,

db cfg parameter First Active Log File Number displays "The file number of the first active log file. "

But sometime I found mentioned file in parameter will be in archive log directory.
As per concept files will be archived once all its transaction are committed, then how its possible ?

    thanks for both the link.

I found 2nd link more relavent to my ans.

As per 2nd link if any transaction which is in active log directory rolled back then if transaction require data from archived log directory then logs will be read from archive log directory.

But I think once any transaction will complete succesfully( comitted ) then only it will move to archive log directory. Thats why if any big delete or transaction is running it will lead to log full .

Could you please give more information on this part, or if you have any ibm link then please let me know i will read that.
