    Unanswered: maintenance plan primary key

    Hi guys,
    do i need to create maintenance plan for particular tables with only primary constraint exist. The tables perform moderate insert, update and detele. any inputs much appreciated.

    If downtime is not a problem and you don't mind the idea of rekeying data, then maintenance is probably optional. Yes, you need to at least do the DBCC checks on every user database that gets changes (insert/update/delete) of any kind.

    If you have indexes of any kind (user created, DRI created, other), then those need maintenance too.

    In theory, theory and practice are identical. In practice, theory and practice are unrelated.
