    Unanswered: LOBs doing Logical reads

I have a number of tables defined in my system. They have large objects. In the definition, the large objects go to an LOB tablespace. None of the LOB definitions are INLINE.

My question is that when I look at the tablespace snapshot, I see a lot of Logical reads (and some physical). I also, as I would expect see Direct reads/writes.

My question is what those Logical reads are? LOB's should, to my understanding be all direct and they should not go to any bufferpool. There are no tables defined to that tablespace - it only is used as the LOB home.

Can anyone explain to me why I have logical (and physical) reads along with the direct reads/writes>?

    Thanks kindly,
    Paul

Are you sure you're reading only LOB columns and no other columns? No indexes? No catalog access?

Metadata for LOB tablespace and LOB object will be stored in the bufferpool.
