Unanswered: Correct sequence to reboot servers with HADR

    Hi,

    9.7.6 / Linux

Our SA needs to upgrade OS and reboot the servers. Two servers have DB2 with HADR setup. We don't need to switch roles, just temporary stop HADR on primary and standby, stop instances, reboot and then restart everything. What is the correct sequence to shutdown HADR & DB2 and reboot the servers and then restart HADR & DB2 after reboot?

    TIA

    Hi,

    1. Secondary:
    deactivate db mydb
    db2stop
    -- upgrade

    2. Primary:
    db2stop
    -- upgrade

    3. Both:
    db2start

    4. Secondary:
    activate db mydb

    5. Primary:
activate db mydb / connect to mydb
    Regards,
    Mark.

Before reboot, do I stop primary first and then standby or the other way around? or it doesn't matter?

It doesn't matter. After standby db deactivation you can stop these servers in any order.
But the db activation order does matter (4 - first, 5 - afterwards).
